Responsibilities:
Provide support to the USG Ceilings business by developing and commissioning new products, improving current processes, revising process parameters, and assisting with design updates.
Analyze product and equipment specifications and performance requirements to develop mechanical designs and drafting that can be produced by existing manufacturing methods.
Design with due regard to safety, economy, and ease of fabrication and operation.
Provide necessary drawing maintenance as required to maintain good quality engineering prints.
Sound analytical and problem-solving skills, with an emphasis on a hands on approach.
Mentor and train additional Tool and Die team members on the skills required to be a successful Roll Technician.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor's or associate degree in engineering, machine design discipline, OR equivalent experience, preferably mechanical or industrial engineering Experience in rolling mill pass design.
Proficient in CAD software technologies and mechanical design work.
Ability to comprehend and apply advanced mathematics and mechanical and machine design concepts in the design of the mechanical components of the company product.
Ability to solve practical mechanical design problems and interpret technical publications.
Employ knowledge of engineering principles as it applies to this industry.
Able to respond to instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Broad shop knowledge including machining and manufacturing processes.
Knowledge of lathe operations, including CAM programming for lathe operations.
Machine cutting.
Must be able to read and comprehend a variety of measuring devices.
Must be able to lead roller mill troubleshooting and training with Operations.
Interpersonal skills and be able to work collaboratively and constructively in a dynamic and changing work environment.
Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
